About this course:

Suicide is a complex phenomenon emerging out of a dynamic interaction of biological, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual factors. Suicidality is a symptom of underlying distress and is the result of a combination of factors that cause psychological pain in the psyche, including underlying mental illness.

This CPD course explores the following: historical and contemporary theories of suicide, approaches to prevention and intervention, the lived experiences of those with suicidal thoughts, risk and protective factors, the personal meaning of suicide for the client, the safety plan, family involvement, the continuum of risk for suicide, the screening procedure, managing suicidality with a client, hospitalization, chain analysis, and reflective questions for the psychologist.
