About this course:

  • The ethics of informing the client about their PD diagnosis (how, when, and why?)
  • The ethics of discussing a client with family members.
  • Providing information to family members (Psycho-educational sessions).
  • Guidance for individuals directly affected by individuals with Borderline PD and Narcissistic PD.
  • Coping skills for individuals directly affected by individuals with Borderline PD and Narcissistic PD.

As a psychologist, it is our work to assist those that enter our offices. However, there are times, we the trained psychologist, experience discomfort working with the high-risk behaviours and intense interpersonal and emotional dysregulation typical of individuals who has been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder or Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

Therefore, it does not surprise me when parents, families, caregivers, friends, and partners enter our offices, desperately seeking help and suggestions on how to cope with a loved one with Narcissistic or Borderline PD. For family members it is often a last resort and a desperate attempt to survive and cope with loved ones diagnosed with Borderline PD or Narcissistic PD.
