About this course:

Every story has an ending. Death marks the end of a story. Our culture and individual backgrounds influence how we view death. In some cultures, death is accepted as a natural part of life and is embraced, in other cultures; death is a formal event beside a grave.  The certainty of facing death and bereavement and the complex personal and societal issues involved argue for the importance of having information regarding death and dying.

This CPD openly addresses matters (not always addressed by university courses) pertaining to death, its consequences and how to cope with those consequences.  This course will introduce you to different perspectives and theories on death, as well as expressions of grief. This course will assist a psychologist or registered counsellor to address dying; death and bereavement knowledgeably; effectively and professionally.

This course includes:

  • Different theories of loss and bereavement
  • How attachment style effects loss
  • The tasks of mourning
  • Different types of loss and grief
  • Therapy for clients who have experienced grief.
  • Resources will also be provided.
